Following the brooding electro-pop of her 2017 debut LP The Age Of Anxiety, South London-based songwriter and 4AD signing Pixx (aka Hannah Rodgers) has returned with an intriguing new single. ‘Disgrace’ pairs demented-sounding synthesizers with driving, motorik beats as Rodgers’ captivating contralto vocals lure you in. Taking a lighter turn just after the 3 minute mark, ethereal guitars wash eerily on top of crispy electronic beats and squelchy synth bass as Pixx delves into a casual spoken-word interlude, before leaving us with the question “Shall we see who’s pulling the strings?”. Arriving alongside the announcement of her second album Small Mercies (due out on the 7th of June) we’ll be patiently waiting for more from Pixx and caning this in the mean time. -Holly Mullineaux
